The lightest stainless steel muffler ever! Muffler weight 7.8kg, 48% lighter than stock!
The strongest muffler for NA engines!!
Lightness is the ultimate weapon!
Lightweight design allows for nimble and agile movement! By moving as much weight as possible to the center of the vehicle, this muffler reduces the yaw moment of inertia when cornering, making it perfect for going faster!
The best pipe diameter!!
HKS has verified the optimal pipe diameter for the FA24 from every angle and has arrived at the answer. The best pipe diameter for use with a naturally aspirated engine, resulting in powerful torque. If the pipe is too thin, it will clog, and if it is too thick, the flow will not be smooth. The Hi-Power SPEC-L II for CUP is the perfect balance of resistance and exhaust efficiency achieved by the best pipe diameter.

About Hi-Power SPEC-L II for CUP
1. Torque-oriented output performance
HKS has come up with the answer after examining the optimal pipe diameter for the GR86/BRZ FA24 engine from every angle . The best pipe diameter
for use with NA engines , and the powerful torque it produces . If the pipe is too thin, it will get clogged, and if it is too thick, the exhaust will not flow smoothly, and the exhaust efficiency will decrease and the torque will drop. The perfect balance between the optimal pipe diameter, which does not allow too much resistance, and the exhaust efficiency, has been achieved in the Hi – Power SPEC-L II for CUP !
Comparison of pipe diameters
●Acceleration performance comparison
We conducted an acceleration performance comparison test using a chassis dynamometer (hereinafter referred to as “chassis dynamometer”) that can apply a load.
As shown in the graph below, we compared the time it takes to reach the target rotation speed.
*Graphs and values are based on in-house measurements and may vary depending on the vehicle and measuring equipment.
The test was carried out in 3rd and 4th gear, with three loads (10, 15, 20kW) applied on a chassis dynamometer, measuring the time it took to reach 3500-7000rpm and comparing the time it took to reach that point.
*Because 20kW places a large burden on the engine, the time it took to reach 6500rpm was used.
The measurement results showed that the time it took to reach that point was shorter under all conditions than the genuine muffler, making this a muffler with excellent acceleration performance .
Time to reach target RPM: 3rd gear
3rd speed | genuine | SPEC-L2 CUP |
10kw | 4.60 | 4.50 |
15kw | 6.12 | 6.02 |
20kw | 7.58 | 7.20 |

Time to reach target RPM: 4th gear

20kw | 12.62 | 11.88 |

By selecting the pipe diameter to match the engine characteristics of the FA24, we were able to increase torque across the entire range of 4500 to 6500 rpm, which is commonly used in sports driving . While placing emphasis on torque, peak power has also been increased, allowing the engine to run without stress up to 7000 rpm .
2. The lightest muffler
●Weight
Achieves unparalleled weight reduction! Muffler weight: 7.8 kg *
The lightest stainless steel muffler with intermediate part currently on sale (according to HKS as of November 2023).
The stock muffler weighs 16.2 kg, a significant weight reduction of 48% compared to the stock weight!
Reference data
: Weight of other manufacturer’s single-sided exhaust: 11.7-12.3kg
; 32016-AF101 HKS Hi-Power SPEC-L II (left and right exhaust): 11.4kg
●Thickness of each part
- Main silencer: Outer cylinder thickness t0.5
*HKS and other silencer products have outer cylinder thickness t1.0 to t1.5 - Intermediate silencer: Outer cylinder thickness t0.6
*Intermediate silencer outer cylinder thickness of other HKS products is t1.0 to t1.5 - Pipe material: Plate thickness t0.8 (Plate thickness t1.2 is used in some areas where strength is required)
*Pipe material plate thickness of other HKS products is t1.2 to t1.5 - Tail: Inner plate thickness t0.8 , outer plate thickness t1.0 (Titanium material used)
*Tail plate thickness of other HKS products is t1.0 to t2.0
-Significant reduction in rear bumper weight
The stock muffler has a heavy main silencer located in the rear overhang.
It weighs 10.5kg! In comparison, the Hi-Power SPEC-L II for CUP weighs just 2.7kg, a significant 25% weight reduction compared to the stock .
By moving the weight of the muffler as close to the center of the vehicle as possible, the yaw moment of inertia during cornering is reduced, making it a muffler for driving faster!
3. Carefully designed layout
●Minimum ground clearance
Due to the floor shape of the GR86 and BRZ, the pipe that passes near the rear member
is at the minimum ground clearance. Therefore, by moving the pipe that passes under the rear member as close to the vehicle as possible, we have ensured that the minimum ground clearance for the pipe that passes under the rear member is 140mm .
( An additional 7mm of ground clearance is ensured compared to the genuine muffler .)
The pipes are placed as close as possible to the rear member to ensure ground clearance, which creates a risk of interference between the pipes and the rear member, but by adding a bracket and suppressing the movement of the pipes , we have taken measures to prevent interference with the pipes while driving. Furthermore, it also has the effect of suppressing the lateral shaking
of the muffler during sporty driving , and we have taken care to prevent unnecessary inertial forces from being generated .
In addition, the entire muffler is placed within the floor as much as possible, making the underside flat, and we paid particular attention to the layout to reduce the risk of hitting the road surface during sports driving.
About HKS Muffler
*1: Regarding intermediate pipes,
the Φ number of the intermediate pipe diameter in the muffler is the Φ number of the thickest part in the structure (excluding the shell and the outer diameter of the tail).
*2: When the HKS muffler is installed, the part with the smallest clearance between the HKS muffler (all parts included in the kit) and the road surface is listed. Therefore, it may differ from the minimum ground clearance of the vehicle itself.
The data is basically for vehicles with normal suspension, but please note that some data is for use in combination with low-down springs or height-adjustable suspension kits.
Note: Hooks, brackets, and stays are subject to change without notice.
